HOB Orlando 7/5/2008

Exactlly 1 year to the date of last years show, we could not have asked for a more FUN show.

Set List:
Anything Good About Me
Shooting Stars
GPH
Darwin's Children
ICNAFM
Promise of You
Lost in America
Take Me
Love TKO
Kentucky (Acoustic)
TCY or TYA
Sign on the Door
I've Seem a Love/
No Woman No Cry

Encore:
I'll Be (Edwin and Craig)
In Your Eyes
Crazy

This show was so different from any other, not many drunks, not a lot of audience noise, not a lot of squishing up in front of the stage!

Southside Serenade from Tampa was the first of two fantastic openers. They performed about 7 songs and had a huge fan following! I personally loved their acoustic, funk, rock sound. Check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/southsideserenade

Matt MacKelcan Band from Orlando was the 2nd act. Matt's got a smooth voice and outgoing personality. I really enjoyed their acoustic rock performance. People just stood and listened, I think everyone was pleasantly surprised. Craig Floyd on acoustic guitar added a bit of humor and some nice guitar. Check them out here:

Just like Edwin pointed out, it's all about supporting your local music and I just want to say THANK YOU Edwin for the bands you've introduced us to and taken on the road with you over the years!!! I've got so many of their CD's in my collection and on daily rotation in my stereo and Ipod! Please remember to support your local musicians!

Edwin was very chatty (and yes, Edwin, we LOVE it when you're chatty).
He had some new stories, one of which was that when they were traveling by military aircraft he realized they were suddenly flying with only 3 of the 4 engines. Uh Oh...

They did a LOT of old EMB and we all loved it, we got one song off the new record and of course, it's the one that has become my fave, TCB or TCY. The crowd was great, we had plenty of room. It was great to see all of my Florida EdHeads and 1 new one, Brandon...Regina's grandson, for his first EMB show. He did pretty great for a little boy trying to stay up late.

Edwin did an in-house autograph signing session upstairs after the show in conjunction with the Virgin Megastore. I'm sure he was tired but what a trooper! We were last in line and I know I hit the road around 1am...so THANK YOU Edwin for letting us share our Edwin luv by getting to stop by to say Hi to you and THank you for coming to Orlando!

Denise, Regina, Brandon, Danea, Tim, Maiya, Tim, Vance, Rich, Collette (Matt's Photog), it was nice to see you all.

Can't wait to see you all again, hopefully in December!

Hugs,
Angel

Yes, the show was a lot different than normal. The fans seemed a lot more respectful this time around. And as usual, edwin was amazing. I caught myself just standing there a few times and totally mesmerized by his voice. It was really great to see the normal crew there as well as meeting new people at each show. You all make the show even better for me.

Rich

PS. By the way Angel is correct about "Southside Serenade", they were really good, and on their myspace page, they have already posted up pics from last nights show.

I agree with all the above, the show was AMAZING and the guys sounded great! Edwin seemed so into it and was having a great time rockin' it out! Had a great time with our FL Edheads too and so glad we got together.

KEEP ROCKIN' EDWIN!

HOB Orlando

OMG... I have listened to Edwin now for many years. I have never seen him like I did at the HOB Orlando for the July 5th concert. Now all the CD's I have of him, pale in comparison to the amazing sound that I heard last Saturday. I can't stop telling everyone that it was the absolute best concert of my life.

I want to know about the band that was with him...the sax was fantastic, lead guitarist top notch, bassist was bad ass funkie, and the drummer was so hot. Edwin of course has the best voice, and his lyrics tell a story and touch so many. I can't wait to go back next year. Tell me who were the band members?

Keep on rockin on

Love your review Angel. I agree with you on everything. It was great having all the Florida Edheads together again. Sure makes the show even more fun.

I was so surprised when they anounced Edwin would be signing autographs for everyone. I've never seen him do that before. Thank you to him for making a lot of people very happy.

dkmkhs is right about the band. The guys were on fire last night. They get better and better everytime I see them. Can't wait for the next show.

Denise

Craig Shields: Keys/Sax/Acordian (brand new one too I heard)
Manny Yanes: Bass
Tez: Drums (Fantastic drummer...he's new so I don't know very much yet)
